Frequently Asked Questions

FACE PAINTING

How much time should I book?
Each artist can paint 20-25 guests during a 2-hour timeframe. If you are expecting more than 25 guests, we suggest adding additional time.

Although there is no strict maximum limit, we do reserve the right to decline requests in cases where the number of children exceeds for artists to handle within the requested time frame. This is to prevent a negative experience for all parties involved.

What do I need to provide?
We kindly ask for a small table and two chairs to be provided for each face painter. While some artists may bring their own set up, please plan to have these items available as a backup. An indoor setting is preferred to avoid sweaty faces, wind interference, or other weather-related challenges, but we are open to working outdoors if necessary. Please ensure a shade tent or other covering is available for protection against sun and rain.
What if I require additional artists?
We have a team of talented artists, and we can provide additional artists as our schedule allows. We strive to keep our pricing as affordable as possible, whether you are booking one artist or multiple artists. For this reason, we do not offer package pricing when combining artists, as each professional travels and operates independently.
What types of designs do you offer?
With our face painting service, children can transform into their favorite character, superhero, animal, or anything their imagination desires. Adults are big kids too! Parents love to participate as much as their children, even when it results in a wacky painting because of a lost bet. Our skilled artists ensure that each face or arm becomes a masterpiece, leaving participants glowing with excitement and sparking their creativity. We will not paint anything that the face painter deems offensive, obscene or inappropriate for the event or age group.
Which type of paint do you use?
Our skilled artists exclusively use top-notch professional face paints, brushes, and sponges that are specially formulated for face painting. The paints are water-based and can be easily removed with water and mild soap. We utilize rainbow cakes and split cakes, which ensure our creations are both quick and stunning, making them a surefire crowd-pleaser!
How do you manage the line?
The artist will keep a close eye on the time and number of guests waiting. If need be, the artist will close the line in advance to make sure they are able to complete all the guests currently waiting in line. This will ensure the artist finishes on time.

Once the line has been closed, no one other than the people in the line will be painted. Each artist has their own system to identify the last guest in line and to ensure no one new joins.

BALLOONS

How much time should I book?
Each artist can make balloons for 25-30 guests during a 2-hour timeframe. If you are expecting more than 30 guests, we suggest adding additional time.

FACE PAINTING and BALLOONS – Combo

If you’re a fan of both balloon art and face painting but want to stick to a budget for a smaller gathering, our Combination Artist is the perfect solution for you! With the ability to provide both services, this single artist offers a cost-effective alternative to hiring two separate artists.

The Combination Artist is a perfect option for small gatherings with less than 20 children in attendance.

How much time should I book?
Each artist can paint and make balloons for 10-15 guests during a 2-hour timeframe. If you are expecting more than 15 guests, we suggest adding additional time.

How do you split the time between the services?
Face painting takes longer than balloons. The artist will paint the first hour or one and a half hours, the remaining time will be balloons.
Why does it matter how many guests will receive face painting and/or balloons?

At FunShine Entertainment, our focus is to ensure you have an outstanding experience. During our 20+ years, we have found what works great and what does not. We know from experience that having too many children assigned to a single artist does not yield positive results. This typically leads to:

  • A stressed out artist
  • Frustrated visitors and caregivers
  • Long lines
  • Being able to provide only one service instead of both due to time constraints

Our goal is to make your party a fantastic experience for both you and your guests, while also setting a positive example for our future clients who may be attending. If you are unsure about the number of children attending, consider either reducing to one service or hiring two artists. You will appreciate the decision in the end!

PHOTO IMAGERY POLICY

We frequently take photographs during the events and parties that we attend. Verbal consent will always be sought by the artist to the individual participants or responsible adult present with any child under 16yrs.

By booking with us and giving your verbal consent you grant the artist full rights to use the images and any reproductions or adaptations of the images for publicity.

This might include, but is not limited to, the right to use them on our Website, Social Media, Press Releases or Printed Marketing Tools.

On giving your verbal consent contact details and links to these policies will be given.

If you DO NOT wish to be photographed, please inform the artist prior to their attendance or on their arrival to your event. Where we will be more than happy to ensure no photos are taken at your event or of specific individuals.

You can contact us at any time and ask us to remove any images that you have previously given consent to use and we will be more than happy to delete these from our website and social media. If we have used any of your images on our printed publicity or signs these will be removed and replaced as soon as it is possible.

We can take no responsibility for images that you have previously given consent for that have been shared, saved or edited by third parties.

SUPERVISION

It is important to emphasize that the presence of an adult is required at all times. The supervision of children is the sole responsibility of their guardian(s). Our entertainers are focused on providing twisting and painting services and are unable to safely supervise children while they work.

It is important to note that balloons or their components can present a choking hazard to both children and pets.

ARRIVAL

Onsite, available parking is expected for each artist booked. If parking is off-site, requires payment, or requires an immense amount of luck in order to find a spot, FunShine Entertainment MUST be informed of this at time of booking and additional fees may apply. If lots are expected to be full 30 minutes before the booking start time, you must arrange to either reserve spots or book an earlier time. All parking fees must either be validated, or they will be added to the final bill.

A contact person and cell phone number will be requested when booking, and this number to be accessible for troubleshooting prior to the contracted booking time. If our artists are held up due to missing information, event staff preventing access, or any number of other unexpected delays, FunShine Entertainment will not be held responsible for lost booking time if the artist attempted to contact the client at the provided number and was not assisted.

Our team uses Google Maps in order to locate your event. If you give us your home address and hope we see your party set up at the neighborhood park, it goes without saying that we are not responsible for lost booking time. It is your responsibility to provide an address that Google Maps recognizes correctly. If Google Maps does not recognize the address given, it is your responsibility to give alternate directions to get us to your event.

EVENT BOOKING

All artists require a minimum booking of 2 hours. The number of guests we can face paint or provide balloons for within this time frame is outlined as a range, but please note these are estimates. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate a specific number of guests. If you are unsure about the duration needed, we recommend adding extra time to your booking.

To confirm a booking for outdoor events, it is essential to have full shade for the comfort and safety of our team. This includes a covered area or shade tent to shield against the sun and rain. A standard 10×10 pop-up gazebo is recommended to accommodate up to 3 artists adequately. Natural shade from trees is not sufficient. We may request to relocate to a fully shaded or indoor spot if necessary. Services will only commence once suitable shade or cover is provided.

The client is responsible for providing a complete setup, which includes about 2’x3′ of table space for each artist booked, as well as 2 chairs for each artist (excluding balloon artists, who do not require chairs).

If your event is at night and outdoors, please provide adequate lighting for the artists.

We strictly adhere to our code of ethics which prohibits the disclosure of private medical information of our artists to any individual or entity. Should the client require such documentation or specific testing, it must be communicated to us before finalizing the booking and payment of the deposit. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the booking. If the request is made after the deposit has been paid and the booking confirmed, we will not refund the deposit if a decision to cancel is made.

RESERVATIONS

Please note that reservations are only confirmed once the deposit has been received. Failure to submit payment within the designated time frame will result in the cancellation of the booking, and the reservation will open to other potential customers.

The first payment acts as a non-refundable and non-transferable retainer fee. By making this payment, it is acknowledged that it is fair compensation for the business’s commitment to render services and decline other potential clients.

WEATHER

If your event takes place outdoors, it is essential to have a backup plan in place to transition indoors in the event of unfavorable weather conditions, like rain or extreme temperatures below 50°F or above 95°F. Our artists, equipment, and materials need a shaded or climate-controlled environment to perform effectively. (more details in our Booking Terms & Conditions)

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Full Terms & Conditions

Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit is received. We will tentatively pencil you in while waiting for it, but if it is not paid the same day, we cannot make any assurances that we will still have availability.

You are reserving your artist(s) to work rain or shine! You must have a contingency plan in place to move indoors in case of inclement weather, such as rain or extreme temperatures below 50°F or above 95°F.

The deposit that you put down on the booking to secure your date/time is a retainer fee to hold our artist[s] specifically for your event, and those payments will apply toward your total booking cost.
These deposits/retainer fees are always non-refundable & also non-transferable to a future date. We use these payments to compensate our artists who undoubtedly turned down other booking requests to be reserved for your specific event date & time. We expect (and need) to work rain or shine. If rain will cause you to cancel your event, please understand that we cannot refund or transfer your deposit. Exceptions to this policy are listed below:

  • If we are notified at least 2 weeks or more prior to the event date, we will allow the deposit to either be transferred to a new date, according to current availability, or to be refunded less a $25 administrative fee.
  • If we are able to rebook the artist for the same time frame, we may be able to apply some or all of your deposit to a future date. (Please note, this can rarely happen with rain reschedules which are typically with 1-3 days of notice given, so please don’t count on this as your rain backup plan.)
  • In the event of severe weather (think hurricane) which would make travel dangerous or impossible, we will allow your deposit to be held as credit to be used for a future date.
  • If a member of the host’s household falls ill, we will accept a doctor’s note as proof to allow the deposit to be held as a credit for a future booking/reschedule for a maximum of 3 months from the original booked date. (Applicable only where just one artist was booked).
